The effects of the Kilauea Lava Flow in Pahoa
Pahoa, a small town on the Big Island of Hawaii is usually blooming with activities and festivities of all sorts. With the recent tragedy to strike the island, Pahoa has suffered a blow to it’s economy from the destruction that the lava brought upon us. Business people from all types of services have lost most - if not all, their income from the eruption. Vacation home owners, renters, restaurants, mom and pop shops, surf shops, etc. While very few have begun a recovery phase, the rest are still struggling greatly. Most aren’t being given any exemption of rent, or lowered rent pay. Others just simply can’t afford to keep their shops open, and are forced to relocate. But that won’t stop us from trying our hardest to get through this! Because we are Puna Strong. Through this tightly knit community everyone will get through it together.
